| | | | | | | | | YouthAs you look at the billion-dollar youth marketing industry, it becomes clear that our culture encourages youth to build their identity on their age and stage of life as youth. Youth are defined in contrast to adults, who “don’t get it” and can never understand. Our vision for youth is that they would find their primary identity—not in marketing-driven youth culture—but in the church community and particularly in Christ. With this in mind, we try to balance (1) the needs youth have for youth-oriented learning and community, and (2) the need youth have to feel a part of the whole church, not a segregated minority. Todd and Liz came to St. Louis from Chattanooga, Tennessee. They lead the Youth Group with a team of adults who work to help youth integrate into the larger church community. Todd, who co-owned and ran a coffee house there, has over a decade of experience working with youth and is currently a student at Covenant Theological Seminary where he is pursuing a Master of Divinity. Todd has a particular passion to help youth grow into men and women who love Jesus and love the church, serve other people, are real about their struggles, and are prepared to step into college as young men and women who own their faith and are prepared to bring the Welcome of Jesus to their campus.
